Ashiatsu is a massage technique that produces deep, consistent pressure delivered by the therapists feet from a standing position. Parallel bars overhead allow the therapist to stay balanced while they regulate the amount of pressure in the massage.
Who is Ashiatsu for?
Ashiatsu is great for athletes and people who love deep pressure. Because feet have softer and bigger surface area than hands, the client will feel less discomfort while receiving deeper pressure.
Clients who are pregnant, have certain skin disorders, have uncontrolled blood pressure or advanced diabetes are among those who should not receive Ashiatsu. Make sure to communicate any health concerns directly to your therapist.
What are the benefits of Ashiatsu?
There are so many! Here are just a few of the benefits:
- Deep sense of calm – positively influence autonomic nervous system regulation
- Release of nerve compression (carpel tunnel, sciatica)
- Greater flexibility and range of motion
- Breaks down fascial adhesions and scar tissue
- Results are longer lasting
- LESS DISCOMFORT with MORE PRESSURE!!
What should I wear to an Ashiatsu Massage?
For an in office Ashiatsu Massage you will be draped with a sheet and also have a blanket available. For a sports stretch and compression Ashiatsu Event Massage you may remain fully clothed.
Will my therapist still be able to do a full body massage with Ashiatsu?
Yes! A trained Ashiatsu therapist can do everything hands can do, but better! You can still receive detailed neck work, hands, and feet… Everything a therapists hands can do his/her feet can do better!
